Protect Your Mobile Computer from Viruses

By Allyson Westcot

One of the very finest methods of stopping hackers from pulling information from a PC or a whole network is to keep the computer from coming into contact with sites that feature adult materials or that offer MP3s for download. These sites, and some sites with song words and other favored searched items, commonly try to hijack your browser and your PC the minute you click through to them.

Sadly, social sites like Facebook and Twitter are also frequent feeding grounds for hackers due to their popularity. It pays to avoid these things unless definitely required when you are working on a computer used for business.

Sites like Facebook let us connect with a massive amount of people every day. Those who limit their lists to those they know well and keep them small have a smaller likelihood of clicking their way into a security problem than those with hundreds or thousands of site friends. Business networking is typically done thru social sites nowadays, so many have in depth lists.

When a message comes up inviting you to click a link, avoid clicking it right away. A message can come from someone specific and appear utterly normal. There is not always a convincing sign that something's wrong. If the message is about anything you have discussed on the site, though, someone could have access to that and may be using it to get you to click a "dirty" link. You should not go on social networking unless you're running reliable anti-virus protection on your rugged laptop, because of this.

If it's a truly tough message and you click that link on a vulnerable computer, the virus or script will do its job, spread itself further via your social networking account, and infiltrate your system. If you are on a business portable computer, it may get into the business network. Never click a link on the site without having reliable anti-virus software installed.
