Steps Taken In Mobile Home Releveling

By Marla Mills

Re-leveling is still one of the best ways of handling cracks on walls, windows or doors. In a mobile home, such cracks are usually caused by the imbalance of the I-beam used for support. The imbalance may be caused by the underground roots, which causes the soil to move around. Similarly, problems with a level mobile home may result from other environmental issues such as excessive flooding. Mobile home releveling can therefore be done in order to return the structure back to its normal position and make it more accommodating.

Re-leveled homes are more comfortable to stay in than those imbalanced or having several cracks as a result of imbalance. Mobile homes re-leveling is a daunting task and involves several steps and other related duties. Foremost, one should begin by removing the skirting around the house before the actual re-leveling. This gives more room to have easy access to all the piers attached to the structure.

Re-leveling is usually started at the centre of the home. This is done to enable the homeowner to check the level of each pier. This is followed by placing a long level at the nearest pier to the center and checking the bubble at the middle of the level. If the bubble settles at the centre of the level, then the house is balanced. In case there are piers that are not level they are marked out for future use.

Usually, a plastic tube is attached to the container with a capacity of about five gallons. The container is then used to hold about 1.9 liters of water used for leveling. A mark is set by ensuring that the tube water is at the same level with the bottom of the home I-beam. This is usually done to ensure that all the piers are balanced.

A jack is usually used to support the house by lofting it above the ground for further checking. The jack supports the weight of the house and raises the I-beam to the same level of the water contained in the plastic tube. Raising the house enables one to check all the piers using the level bubble and fix all the imbalanced ones. The piers should also be checked on a regular basis to ensure that the structure remains level.

The steps taken also require the homeowner to improvise routine programs used for checking other problems affecting the level of the house. Special attention should be paid towards windows and doors to check if all cracks are effectively fixed. Once the structure is leveled, a wedge can be used to remove the jack.

There are several management tips that are used for the re-leveling purposes. These include fixing all problems in order to avoid recurrence of past problems. Re-leveling is an effective measure of reducing extra costs used for management as well as restoring the house stability.

Mobile home releveling also protects the house from the underground moisture that can make it damp. The moisture can also cause rusting to the metallic parts of the house. The homeowner should therefore use a plastic sheet to cover the ground to avoiding vaporization.
