The Different Types Of Cabling

Transmitting information is now very fast, easy, and convenient using cable networks. These are used efficiently in news and television networks, internet, school networks, the government, and the general public. STPs, WLANs, UTPs, Fiber Optics, and Coaxial are used to configure networks and connect to LAN or Local Area Network. They are either installed in pairs, individually, or in groups depending on what the network requires.

UTPs are widely used because they are common and very affordable. Different networks use them since these are easy to install. They are classified according to their speeds. UTPs are prone to signal interference so a very good alternative, although slightly more expensive are STPs. These cables can extend distances and are capable of preventing electrical and signal interference. This is why it is recommended in networks that have higher usage volumes.

WLANs or Wireless Local Area Network do not require cables in order to connect to a network. It utilizes radio signals and infrared energy. Fiber Optics are efficient in reaching a wider coverage. This is very ideal for large organisations or companies. This contains numerous small cables and wires which connect to the Ethernet. The reception is very fast so the transmission of messages from one network to another happens to be so fast. It has a speed that is as fast as a bullet and enables fast transactions.

Coaxial cables contain a copper conductor. Copper is known to be a conductor of electricity and can detect signals. This is, however, very complicated to install. But this is one of the known types of wire networks that resist signal interference. It can be combined with twisted pair cables like UTPs and STPs. In addition, this cable can either be thin or thick.

Installers must follow certain guidelines in the installation of any type of cable. The cables must have extra lengths and the installation should be done at least three feet away from any source of signal and electronic interference. These may cause disruptions in the process of configuration.

In addition, it is important to do some test before final installation. The network must be tested first and if found to have some defects, must be fixed as soon as possible before installation resumes. Then, protectors must be used as they can be sensitive. This will also prevent potential signal interference.

The opposite ends should be labeled and tied. Tapes are not advised to use in this part as they may not be as strong and dependable as ties. This is done so that no one will trip over the lines that are mostly extra long as recommended in the first guideline.
