Battlestar Galactica, which has been around since 1978 is an American science fiction franchise that began as an original television series created by Glen A. Larson followed by another TV series in 1980 that was aired as a sequel. In 2003 it was resurrected and remade into various mini-series that have been developed throughout the years up to the present.
Battlestar Galactica has expanded into various forms of entertainment such as book adaptations, comic books, novels, board games, and the ever-popular video games right along with the television productions to flourish in the entertainment industry. The foundation of the story for all the various forms of entertainment productions centers around the premise that a group of planets called the Twelve Colonies exist in a distant part of our galaxy and are inhabited by a human civilization. These individuals migrated from the ancestral world of Kobol, and for decades these Twelve Colonies have been at war with a cybernetic race of beings known as the Cylons, who have been trying to exterminate the human race.
The Twelve Colonies experience a massive attack from the Cylons who are assisted by a human named Baltar. Virtually the entire population of the twelve colonies are decimated along with the Colonial Fleet of star-ships that served as their protection during this devastating attack. A few scattered accessible spaceships act as escape vessels for the remaining survivors to flee into outer space. What today we would describe as an aircraft carrier was the one remaining piece of the entire Colonial battle fleet that was not destroyed, which is known as the Battlestar Galactica, a gigantic battleship and spacecraft carrier.
Commander Adama acted as the leader of this massive spacecraft carrier along with the pilots who served as Viper fighters guiding this fleet of fugitive survivors in an effort to find what is called Earth, the fabled thirteenth colony which was the goal of this search party in the developing saga. The adventures of the Battlestar Galactica provide challenging scenarios for game playing participants who can assume the roles of various characters involved in the plots, either on the Human or Cylon side.
The challenging missions that are part of the interaction of players with their favorite characters can easily immerse them into the exciting universe of action packed tactical space combat while piloting fighter ships.
